Insomnia
Someone who suffers with Insomnia is likely to experience something of the following symptoms:
- Difficulty in getting to sleep and lying awake frustrated for an hour or so trying to sleep.
- Waking in the night and being unable to get back to sleep.
- Waking very early in the morning, too early to rise.
- Feeling unrefreshed upon waking.
- Irritability and tiredness throughout the day.
- Difficulty concentrating and getting things done.
- Back problems due to poor posture during sleep.
How do we treat insomnia?
We use all the techniques at our disposal when treating any symptom of stress, we also look to the possible causes. Treating insomnia alone, is actually quite simple. A technique called Progressive Relaxation is taught to anyone who is suffering with insomnia and this will retrain the mind into a pleasant successful nights sleep. It doesn’t take long providing the technique is followed daily.
How many sessions to treat insomnia?
The technique taught above, can result in a normal sleep pattern returning following only one session, where the individual uses the technique daily as prescribed. We do however, look where necessary into any other possible stress related symptoms to ensure that no underlying condition is missed. Further treatment may follow with the after discussion with the client and practitioner. We recommend between 1-3 90 minutes sessions to resolve this problem.
